Withdrawal Policy
1. Overview
Biosciences Reports understands that there may be situations where authors need to withdraw their manuscript from consideration. This policy outlines the process and conditions under which authors may request to withdraw a manuscript during the submission and publication process.
2. Manuscript Withdrawal Before Peer Review
If an author decides to withdraw their manuscript before the peer review process begins, they may do so without penalty. To request a withdrawal, authors must:
- Inform the editorial team via email or through the journal’s manuscript submission system.
- Provide a clear reason for the withdrawal, though it is not mandatory.
Once the withdrawal request is confirmed, the manuscript will be removed from the system, and no fees will be charged.
3. Manuscript Withdrawal After Peer Review Has Begun
If the manuscript has entered the peer review process but has not yet been accepted for publication, authors may still withdraw their manuscript. However, this request must be made promptly, and the following conditions apply:
- Authors must inform the editorial team in writing, clearly stating their intent to withdraw the manuscript.
- Any submission fees paid up to this point will not be refunded.
- The manuscript will be formally removed from the review process, and the status will be updated accordingly.
4. Manuscript Withdrawal After Acceptance
Once a manuscript has been accepted for publication, withdrawal is no longer possible unless there is a valid and justifiable reason. In cases of withdrawal after acceptance:
- Authors must submit a formal written request to the editorial team, detailing the reason for withdrawal.
- In such cases, a withdrawal notice may be published along with the reason for the withdrawal if deemed necessary.
- Authors may be required to pay the full processing and publication fees, as these costs are incurred once an article has been accepted.
5. Circumstances for Withdrawal
Common reasons for manuscript withdrawal may include:
- Discovery of critical errors or issues in the research or data.
- Changes in authorship or institutional affiliation.
- Ethical concerns or violations that arise during the review or publication process.
- Duplication or submission of the same manuscript to another journal.
6. Consequences of Withdrawal
After withdrawal, any further submissions from the same authors may be subject to more rigorous scrutiny. The journal reserves the right to refuse submissions from authors who have previously withdrawn their manuscripts inappropriately or after acceptance.
7. Non-refund Policy
Please note that once an article has entered the peer review or publication process, no refunds will be provided for any fees paid, including submission, processing, or open-access charges. Authors are encouraged to carefully review their manuscripts before submitting to ensure that withdrawal will not be necessary.
8. Special Cases
In exceptional circumstances, such as conflicts of interest or legal issues, the editorial team may make discretionary decisions regarding withdrawal and its consequences.
